5/12 – Monthly Mending Circle: RENEW—REINVENT—REVIVE

$35.00

DATE: Monday, May 12

TIME: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

FACILITATOR: Beth Adelsberger

Let’s gather to experience the joy of transforming materials and building new connections in our community mending circle. The process of mending is an opportunity to renew both our clothing and our spirits as we discover new potential in what already exists.

What skills are required?

No skills are necessary to attend. Whether you know how to sew or embroider or you want to learn new techniques for renewing textiles, this group is for you!

Each meeting I will demonstrate a visible mending technique such as: darning, patching or sashiko embroidery. You can experiment with the new technique or work on whatever you bring with you.

What do I need to bring?

I will provide fabric samples and sewing supplies for practicing. If you would like, you can bring an item of clothing that has a hole, a stain, a worn edge, or could use a pocket. You could also bring any textile that you would like to reinvent as something new. If you are looking for inspiration, we can brainstorm together.

Mending Manifesto

Mending is:

● Cherishing our clothing and textiles by repairing them or transforming them into new objects.

● Preserving our environment by re-using our existing resources rather than producing more textile waste and contributing to the fibershed.

● Using our hands to care for our “second skin” and nurturing the materials we inhabit.

● Tending to ourselves and our relationships as we gather together in a mending circle.

If finances are keeping you from coming, please contact us. We believe in the art of abundance and have an Art Angel Scholarship Fund to keep us in the flow state.

Please RSVP & Register by 5/10 so we can plan accordingly. If you missed the deadline, contact us to see if we can squeeze you in.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:
#1: To register and pay online, use the ADD TO CART button below.

#2: If you prefer to pay by cash or check at the door, send us an email via the CONTACT tab to register and note that you will be using this payment choice. You may use this alternative for limited-budget sliding scale needs, set-price payments, and/or rounding up/pay-it-forward contributions to our Community Impact Scholarship which helps make our events accessible to all. Any amount paid above our set price will automatically make you a Blooming Peace ART ANGEL, and we graciously thank you for your support!
